- Nicknamed 'Supermac', Macdonald was a quick, powerfully built prolific goalscorer.
- He played for Fulham, Luton Town, Newcastle United, Arsenal and the England national football team.
- Macdonald is Newcastle United's fifth highest goalscorer of all time.
