About Norman Yeo

  • Norman Wyatt Yeo (21 June 1886 – 1 June 1950) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon and University.
  • He was the leading goalkicker for Essendon in his only season with the club.
  • As well as playing in the Victorian Football League (VFL), he played for Hawthorn and Richmond in the Victorian Football Association (VFA).
  • He later captained the Beverley Football Club until he retired at the end of the 1913 season.After his football career, Yeo was a leading figure in the Australian wool industry, being the chief accountant of the Central Wool Committee during World War I and the British Australian Wool Realization Commission which was set up to deal with the disposal of wool stocks when the war ended.
  • He also helped the Government in its operation of the Central Wool Committee during World War II.
