Karen Yarbrough is the Democratic County Clerk for Cook County.
Elected on November 6, 2018 without opposition (and having faced no opposition in the Democratic primary), she is the first female and African American to hold that position.
Yarbrough previously served as Cook County's Recorder of Deeds (2012-2018), and represented District 7 in the Illinois House of Representatives (2001-2012).
In 2006, Yarbrough became the Democratic Committeeman of Proviso Township by defeating incumbent committeeman Eugene Moore, the then-Cook County Recorder of Deeds.
