Jill Price, also known as patient A.J., is one of the most well studied cases of hyperthymesia, also known as highly superior autobiographical memory.
Hyperthymestics are characterized by the ability to recall autobiographical events in great detail given a triggering stimuli.
These patients are also known to automatically replay past events from their memory, and are unable to “switch memories off”.
Unlike mnemonists, hyperthymestics do not voluntarily rehearse memories, and are not able to explicitly explain strategies they use for their memorization.
