- Ellis (April 14, 1922 – September 13, 2014) was an American artist.
- His professional career spanned six decades as an artist, educator, and museum director, including eight years as Curator of Education at the Pasadena Art Museum in California, twenty-three years on the art faculty of University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque, and ten years as director of UNM's Harwood Museum of Art in Taos, New Mexico.
- His work is in numerous museum collections, including the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History, New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, and Roswell Museum and Art Center.
- Apart from his distinguished career as a painter, Ellis left an indelible mark on the art world in both southern California and northern New Mexico.
