About John Peake

  • John Morris Peake (born 26 August 1924) was a British and English international field hockey player who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics.
  • He was a member of the British field hockey team, which won the silver medal.
  • He played all five matches as forward.
  • Earlier in his life, Peake attended St Faith's School in Cambridge, and was a student there from 1931 to 1938.
  • Following this he won a scholarship to Repton School after which he went on to read mechanical engineering at Clare College, Cambridge.
  • He later became chairman of Baker Perkins, an engineering company focusing on food processing equipment, and was appointed a CBE in the 1986 Birthday Honours.
