Judith Cummins (born 26 June 1967) is a British Labour Party politician.
She has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bradford South since May 2015.She was educated at Ruskin College and the University of Leeds, attending college as a mature student on a Trade Union scholarship.
Cummins was first elected as a local councillor on City of Bradford Council in 2004, representing the Royds ward.
She served her full three-term before not standing again at the 2007 council election.
Her former ward now forms part of her Bradford South constituency.Following this, Cummins was elected as a Leeds City Councillor for four years, representing Temple Newsam ward for a full four-year term from 2012 to 2016.Before her selection as the Labour parliamentary candidate for Bradford South for the 2015 general election, she lost out to Richard Burgon in the selection process for Leeds East, despite being a local councillor within the constituency.
She supported Owen Smith in the failed attempt to replace Jeremy Corbyn in the 2016 Labour leadership election.
