About Francis White (Australian politician)

  • Francis White (21 April 1830 – 4 May 1875) was an Australian politician. He was born at Ravensworth to overseer James White and Sarah Crossman.
  • Educated at Maitland, he became a surveyor and inherited his father's estate, Edinglassie, near Muswellbrook.
  • On 6 July 1853 he married Mary Hannah Cobb, with whom he had ten children.
  • He acquired land near Scone in 1853, and later bought further land in the Liverpool Plains and New England.
  • In 1874 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for Upper Hunter, but he died the following year.
  • His brother, James White, was also a politician.
