- The victims were sex workers, and Chuplinsky is dubbed the Maniac of Novosibirsk or the Novosibirsk Maniac (Russian: ????????????? ??????).
- Despite a large-scale investigation by police and several arrests, the perpetrator of the killings was arrested only in 2016, being sentenced to a term of life imprisonment on 6 March 2018.
