Demian Augusto Maia Baptista (Portuguese pronunciation: ['demi?~ 'maj?] (born 6 November 1977) is a Brazilian former submission grappler and a current mixed martial artist.
He currently fights as a welterweight for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Maia is regarded as one of the greatest grapplers in MMA history.
He competed in two UFC title championships, losing against Anderson Silva for the UFC Middleweight Championship in 2010 and losing against Tyron Woodley for the UFC Welterweight Championship in 2017.
