Clair Alan Brown (born August 16, 1903; died 1982) was an American botanist.
He was born in Port Allegany, PA to Charles Melvin and Jennie H.
Burrows.
He obtained his bachelor's degree with quotation from the New York State College of Forestry in 1925, his Master of Arts from the University of Michigan in 1926, and his doctorate in 1934.
He married Maude Nichols on September 4, 1926.
(She died in 1962.)
He went to the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he taught botany beginning in 1944.
He served as an adviser to several industries, including oil, paper and wood fiber.
