Timothy James Farron (born 27 May 1970) is a British politician who was the Leader of the Liberal Democrats between July 2015 and July 2017.
He resigned following the 2017 United Kingdom general election.He is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Westmorland and Lonsdale, having first been elected in 2005 and re-elected at the 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019 general elections.
Farron was the President of the Liberal Democrats from January 2011 to December 2014.
Since 7 February 2019 he has been the Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Communities and Local Government, serving alongside Housing Spokesperson The Lord Shipley.
In August 2019, new Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson appointed Farron Spokesperson for Communities and Local Government, Work and Pensions, Housing and Planning and the Northern Powerhouse.
