Boris Samuel Mityagin (????? ?????????? ???????, born 12 August 1937, Voronezh) is a Russian-American mathematician.
Mityagin received in 1961 his candidate degree (Ph.D.) under Georgiy Shilov at the Moscow State Universityt and in 1963 his Russian doctorate (higher doctoral degree).
He was an academician of the Central Economic Mathematical Institute of the Soviet Academy of Sciences.
In 1979 he became a professor at Ohio State University.
His research deals with functional analysis and mathematical physics (spectra of Schrödinger and Dirac operators).
In 1966 in Moscow he was (with A.
Pelczynski) an Invited Speaker of the ICM.In 1960 he received the prize of the Moscow Mathematical Society.
He was elected a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
