Akbaruddin Owaisi (born 14 June 1970) is an Indian politician and Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Assembly and an MLA of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
He is a member of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen and is its floor leader in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.Owaisi has precided over the Chandrayangutta assembly constituency from 1999 to date, wining for the fifth term in 2018.
He assumed the position of floor leader in 2004.He has been in media spotlight for his controversies especially about the "15 Minutes" Speech".
He is referred to by political opponents as a "divisive leader" and "A dog's tail which can't be straightened".
He has also been previously attacked by 15 armed assailants with guns, swords and daggers while rallying in 2011.
He was shot on his abdomen and still faces issues because the bullet is still lodged near his kidney.
