  • Ricardo López Aranda (20 December 1934 – 25 November 1996) was a Spanish realist playwright.
  • He wrote over 60 plays, half of which were staged.
  • He authored several television scripts and screenplays.
  • His screenplay for the film Close to the Stars, which was based on his play, won more than a dozen awards at various film festivals.
  • He also wrote poetry, and published over 30 books of poetry. Despite these achievements, he did not earn fame during his lifetime, perhaps due to his desire for anonymity.
  • He did not have a wish to publish his works, although he did allow his plays to be performed.
  • His drew inspiration from the work of Arthur Miller for his screenplays.
