About Herbert Duffus
- Sir Herbert George Holwell Duffus (30 August 1908 – 22 October 2002) was a Jamaican Chief Justice and acting Governor-General. He was born in St.
- Ann's Bay, Jamaica, the son of William Alexander Duffus, JP, and educated at Cornwall College, Jamaica. He served as Resident Magistrate, Jamaica from 1946 to 1958, a Puisne Judge from 1958 to 1962, a Judge of Appeal from 1962 to 1964 and President of the Court of Appeal from 1964 to 1967.
- He was then appointed Chief Justice of Jamaica in 1968, serving in that capacity until 1973.
- He was acting Governor-General of Jamaica from 2 March to 27 June 1973. He was knighted in 1966.
- He married Elsie Mary Hollinsed, but had no children.
