Matías Jesús Almeyda (Spanish pronunciation: [ma'ti.as xe'sus al'meiða]; born 21 December 1973) is an Argentine former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder, and is the manager of Major League Soccer club San Jose Earthquakes.
Nicknamed El Pelado ("bald one") despite his long hair, he played most of his professional career at River Plate and in Italy, representing four teams in the latter country.
Almeyda represented Argentina, appearing with the national team in two World Cups.
Since his retirement in 2011, he has managed River Plate, Banfield and Guadalajara.
