About Amir H. Hoveyda

  • Hoveyda is professor of chemistry at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA, and holds the position of department chair.
  • He currently works as a researcher at the Institute of Science and Supramolecular Engineering in the University of Strasbourg.
  • He studies asymmetric catalysis, and is particularly noted for his work on developing catalysts for asymmetric olefin metathesis, such as the Hoveyda–Grubbs catalyst.
  • In recent years he has worked extensively with N-heterocyclic carbenes as ligands.
  • His research also focuses on copper-catalyzed allylic alkylations and conjugate additions using these ligands. Hoveyda received his Ph.D.
