About Bernd Gallowitsch
- Bernd Gallowitsch (23 February 1918 – 23 December 1983) was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II.
- The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
- Bernd Gallowitsch was credited with 64 aerial victories, and the destruction of 23 tanks in 480 combat missions. In 1945, he was assigned to JG 1 a He-162 jet fighter unit.
