- Patel is a left-handed batsman who bowls slow left-arm orthodox.
- He was born in Derby, Derbyshire. Patel represented the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board in a single List A match against Oxfordshire in the 1st round of the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was played in 2001.
