Robert William "Bob" Stanley (born November 10, 1954) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher who played for the Boston Red Sox.
He was the pitching coach for the Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, though the 2018 season.
With the Red Sox one strike away from winning the 1986 World Series, Stanley threw a wild pitch that allowed the New York Mets to score the tying run in Game 6.
This ironically turned the tables on the Red Sox from what they themselves had done against the California Angels in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series just weeks earlier.
