Alvin John Ingram (March 31, 1914 – June 1, 1999) was an American orthopaedic surgeon who pioneered combatting polio.
As chief of staff at Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee he pioneered using penicillin.
Ingram served as president of the American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
Ingram was selected as the only orthopaedist in a group of physicians to tour active field hospitals in Vietnam at the request of the president.
Ingram also served as president of various orthopaedic organizations, including the Orthopaedic Society, American Orthopaedic Association, and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
