About Don Carthel
- Donald Ray Carthel (born July 6, 1952) is an American football player and coach who currently serves as special teams quality control for the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions.
- He served as head football coach at Lubbock Christian College—now Lubbock Christian University—from 1981 to 1982, at Eastern New Mexico University from 1985 to 1991, and at West Texas A&M University from 2005 to 2012, compiling a career college football coaching record of 124–69–1.
- He is also the father of A&M-Commerce head coach Colby Carthel.
