About Edward Challenor

  • Brigadier-General Edward Lacy Challenor (10 March 1873 – 15 September 1935) was a British Army officer and first-class cricketer from Barbados. He played in England with Leicestershire and in South Africa with Western Province and Natal.
  • His brother George played Test cricket for West Indies. Challenor served with the British Army in the First World War and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order.
  • He commanded the Leicestershire Regiment from August 1919 to August 1923.
  • He was appointed a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in the 1918 New Year Honours.
  • He was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath in the 1919 New Year Honours and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 1923 New Year Honours.
