About Edward Sprot

  • Edward Mark Sprot (born 4 February 1872 in Edinburgh, Midlothian; died 8 October 1945 at Lower Bourne, Surrey) was a Scottish first-class cricketer who played in 270 matches for Hampshire.
  • He was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. Sprot captained Hampshire between 1903 and 1914.
  • During his career he scored 12,328 runs at 28.66 as well as taking 55 wickets at 33.90.
  • His cricket career came to an end with the onset of the First World War. Sprot died aged 73 in Lower Bourne, Surrey.
