John McGuirk (born 2 March 1984) is an Irish media adviser, political commentator and pro-life campaigner.
He was the communications director for the Save the 8th campaign, which unsuccessfully campaigned for a No vote in the 2018 Irish abortion referendum.
During the campaign McGuirk stated on Twitter that "If Dublin Central is 75% yes on the day (3-1), I will never take a political job again".
The referendum was passed on 25 May 2018 by a majority of 66.4%, with Dublin Central voting Yes by 76.51%.
He was communications director for Libertas Institute, which campaigned for, and won, a No vote in the 2008 Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
He spoke on national radio advocating for a No vote.
Libertas was the most prominent voice in the No campaign.
The Treaty was rejected by voters on 12 June 2008 by a margin of 53.4% to 46.6%, with a turnout of 53.1%.He ran in 2011 Irish general election for Cavan–Monaghan for the New Vision electoral alliance, receiving 2.4% of the first preference votes and being eliminated on the second count.
McGuirk previously held the position of Eastern Area Officer of the Union of Students in Ireland in 2006/2007.
He ran unsuccessfully for president of the USI in 2007.
McGuirk appears regularly on Irish broadcast media as a conservative voice on social and political issues.
Shows he has appeared on include The Last Word, Tonight with Vincent Browne, The Tonight Show and The Right Hook.
McGuirk also contributed articles and writes a column in The Irish Catholic newspaper.
As of 2019, McGuirk is editor of the conservative news website Gript.
