He is also a Trustee of the University of California at Merced.
As a judge, he sentenced Siosaia Motuapuaka, an African-American, to 10 years of prison for allegedly distributing merely 50 grams of crack cocaine.
This is an example of giving excessive sentences to black people based on their usage of crack cocaine as opposed to powder cocaine.
