- Gordon Ashby Kirkland (July 26, 1904 – June 23, 1953) was the head football along with baseball and basketball coaches and athletic director for Catawba College from 1934 to 1948.
- During his tenures, he led his teams to eight North State Conference football titles, nine basketball crowns, and two baseball championships.
- He was a graduate of Elon College.
