About Max Ferner

  • Max Ferner was a German playwright, born Maximilian Sommer on April 18, 1881.
  • He died in Munich at the age of 59 at the onset of World War II on October 9, 1940. Max Ferner teamed up with friend Max Neal to write the libretto for two operettas for Austrian composer Karl Michael Ziehrer which were performed in September 1913 and then again in February 1916. Ferner also wrote and co-wrote with Max Neal a series of plays, many of which were converted to movies later.
