- (Philippine Military Academy "Marangal" Class of 1974) retired Filipino Chief of Staff, the highest position in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
- After retiring from military service, he was appointed a member of the Cabinet of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, initially as the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
