About Mario Vicini

  • Mario Vicini (Cesena, 21 February 1913 — Cesena, 6 December 1995) was an Italian professional road bicycle racer.
  • Vicini won the 1940 Italian road race championship, as well as the Giro del Lazio and the Giro di Toscana.
  • He rode the Tour de France twice, finishing 2nd (in 1937) and 6th (in 1938).
  • In the Giro d'Italia, Vicini won 3 stages, and finished third in 1939. He later went on to build racing bicycles, simply named "Vicini", using top of the line components.
  • You can tell his frame and fork sets by the Vicini name stamped into the top end of the seat stay flutes and the V in the top of each side of the fork crown.
