Julian Agyeman is Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, and co-founder and editor-in-chief of Local Environment.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and the Royal Geographical Society.
In the early 2000s, Agyeman developed the concept of just sustainabilities, defined as “the need to ensure a better quality of life for all, now, and into the future, in a just and equitable manner, whilst living within the limits of supporting ecosystems”.
His book on the subject, Introducing Just Sustainabilities: Policy, Planning, and Practice, is widely used at universities.
