Anita Earls (born February 20, 1960) is an African-American civil rights attorney, educator and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.
Previously she was the founding executive director of the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, and served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the civil rights section of the U.S.
Dept.
of Justice in the Bill Clinton administration.
On November 6, 2018, Earls defeated Republican incumbent Justice Barbara Jackson to win a seat on the state's highest court.
