  • He represented Hants East in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1970 to 1978, from 1981 to 1984 and from 1988 to 1993 as a Liberal member. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and educated at Saint Mary's University and the University of New Brunswick.
  • He served in the Canadian Army from 1955 to 1960, reaching the rank of lieutenant.
