He is the incumbent member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly for the state constituency of Bukit Kepong.
Sahruddin is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party or Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), a component of Pakatan Harapan (PH) ruling coalition.
