About Luboš Andršt

  • Luboš Andršt (born 26 July 1948, Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech jazz fusion, rock and blues guitarist, composer, producer, and guitar teacher.
  • Known primarily for his electric rock-influenced guitar playing, he frequently played acoustic guitar on jazz fusion recordings in the 1970s.
  • Since the late 1990s, he has been best known as the key figure on the Czech blues and blues-rock scene with his Luboš Andršt Blues Band , and has shared the stage with a number of American blues musicians, including B.B.
  • King. He founded his first band, the Roosters, in 1966.
  • He then played in a several blues-rock formations, including the early Framus Five rendition in 1970.
  • In the early 1970s he was a member of Martin Kratochvíl's Jazz Q.
  • In 1973 he co-founded a new jazz fusion band Energit with two former members of Flamengo (Ivan Khunt and Jaroslav Erno Šedivý).
  • In the 1970s and early 1980s he also collaborated with a number of Czech and Slovak rock and jazz musicians, including Peter Lipa.
  • He has been a member of the new versions of Framus Five (also known as Framus 5) and Energit since they re-formed in 2000 and 2003, respectively.
  • He has been a long-time member of an acoustic trio with Michal Prokop and Jan Hrubý. His father was a Czech ice hockey player and executive Zdenek Andršt.
  • His cousin is another guitarist Petr Janda from the legendary Czech Beat music band Olympic.
