- Born in Karachi, Sindh, Serkari's family emigrated to Canada during her childhood as refugees which is where she continued her education.
- After spending her childhood in Pakistan she moved to Canada with her family.
- After winner Miss Pakistan World 2007, she participated in Miss Pakistan world pageant and won the crown, the same year Mahleej represented Pakistan in "Miss Tourism Queen International".
- After the pageant she was surrounded by the media and the controversies surrounding her desire to date the President of Pakistan "President Musharraf".
