Raymond Tasman Donoghue GC (10 December 1920 – 29 April 1960) was an Australian tram driver posthumously awarded the George Cross for the gallantry he displayed in Hobart, Tasmania.
His date of birth is recorded as December 1920, however several of his service history documents have this recorded as December 1919.
While the reason is not yet determined, it may be possible that to enlist, Donoghue needed to be 21 years of age, so may have lied about his age to enlist.
This was a common practice during World War II (WWII).
