About Stephen Mutch

  • Stephen Bruce Mutch (born 4 February 1956) is a former Australian politician.
  • He was educated at the University of New South Wales and became a solicitor in 1979.
  • A member of the Liberal Party, he was a policy advisor until he became a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council in 1988.
  • He held that position until 1996, when he transferred to federal politics, succeeding Don Dobie in the seat of Cook.
  • In 1998, he lost preselection to Bruce Baird, and retired from politics.
  • Mutch also lectures at Macquarie University with the Department of Politics and International Relations.
