About Walt Corey

  • Walter Martin Corey (born May 9, 1938) is a former American football player and coach.
  • He played college football for the University of Miami. In 1960, Corey came to the American Football League's Dallas Texans as an undrafted linebacker.
  • He went on to star for the Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs, with whom he was an AFL All-Star in 1963. Corey later held assistant coaching positions with several teams, including the Buffalo Bills from 1987 to 1994 under head coach Marv Levy.
  • Corey was Buffalo's defensive coordinator for Buffalo's four consecutive AFC Championship teams from 1990 to 1993.
  • He was also the defensive line coach in New Orleans during the Mike Ditka era, from 1997 to 1999.
  • He was the defensive coordinator and Linebackers coach of the Memphis Maniax of the XFL.
