About Babacar Gaye
- Babacar Gaye (born 31 January 1951 in Saint Louis, Senegal) is a Senegalese Army General who was the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) until his forced resignation following repeated reports of murder and sexual abuse by soldiers, including the rape a 12-year-old girl and the sexual exploitation of hungry children as young as 8 who were forced to perform terrible sex acts for food, under his command.
- He was found to have specifically “abused their authority” by an independent panel.
- Prior to this appointment of 16 July 2014, he was the Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office for the Central African Republic (BINUCA).
