Breitbart, FAPM (born 1951), is an American psychiatrist who is an international leader in the fields of Psychosomatic Medicine, Psycho-oncology, and Palliative Care.
Breitbart, a renowned clinician, researcher, and educator, is the chairman and incumbent of the Jimmie C Holland Chair in Psychiatric Oncology, as well as Chief of the Psychiatry Service, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (New York, NY), He is a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
He is a past president of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, and the Editor-in-Chief of Palliative and Supportive Care.
In addition to his position as an attending psychiatrist in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Breitbart is an Attending Psychiatrist in the Palliative Care Service, Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and an Attending Psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Breitbart is a founding member of both the American Psycho-Oncology Society (APOS) and the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS), where he served on the executive board and is a former president, respectively [1].
