Yao Tandong (Chinese: ???; born July 1954 in Gansu) is a Chinese glaciologist, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
He served as Director of the CAS Institute of Tibetan Plateau Research (ITP) in Beijing.
He is the first Asian scientist to win the prestigious Vega Medal in 2017 in the fields of anthropology and geography for his contribution to research on glaciers and the environment on the Tibetan Plateau.
