About Gustav Ritter von Kahr

  • Gustav Ritter von Kahr (Born Gustav Kahr; 29 November 1862 – 30 June 1934) was a German right-wing politician, active in the state of Bavaria.
  • He helped turn post World War I Bavaria into Germany's center of radical-nationalism, but was then instrumental in the collapse and suppression of Adolf Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch in 1923.
  • In revenge for the latter, he was murdered later in the 1934 Night of the Long Knives.
