Shahid Rafique Malik (Urdu: ???? ???? ??? ???; born 24 November 1967) is a British Labour Party politician, a Chairman in the Technology, Media and Telecom Sector, a Visiting Professor and Chair and Adviser to a number of non-profit organisations.
His Parliamentary career commenced when he became the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dewsbury in 2005.
The BNP also polled their highest number of votes in the country in Dewsbury, receiving over 5,000 votes.
In 2007 he became Britain's first Muslim Minister as International Development Minister, and subsequently served as a Justice Minister, Home Office Minister and most recently as Minister for Race, Faith and Community Cohesion at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
He lost his seat in the House of Commons to Simon Reevell at the 2010 general election following significant boundary changes.
