About Peter Hayek

  • Peter Milton Hayek (born November 16, 1957) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman who played in one National Hockey League game for the Minnesota North Stars during the 1981–82 NHL season.
  • He played his college hockey at the University of Minnesota under Herb Brooks.
  • He won the 1979-80 Men's NCAA Ice Hockey Championship and was on the roster (JV team) for the 1976-77 championship.
  • While at the University of Minnesota, Hayek was part of the freshman class of 76'-77' that many consider the greatest in Gopher hockey history.
  • He has since coached youth hockey in Minnesota.
